in doing family research, i discovered my great, great grand father died in the clyde river in march of 1878, and knowing how people here in boston, MA are with the charles river in winter, a lot walk in the ice in winter, i can only conclude with the weather conditions back then he thought the river ice was thick enough to support his weight, forgetting the gulf stream warms the clyde and he fell through.
